We are pleased to announce that Bill Breen and Omar Diaz have joined our firm as Senior Advisors, adding significant expertise in chemicals, materials, industrials, and related industries.
Balmoral Advisors, a leading independent, specialty investment bank, has expanded its Chemicals industry team with the addition of Bill Breen and Omar Diaz as Senior Advisors. Bill and Omar will join a senior banker team alongside Chris Cerimele (Managing Partner), Gary Denning (Senior Advisor) and Karen Croyle (Vice President).
With these personnel additions, Balmoral’s Chemicals team now has more than 120 years of collective experience advising clients and executing transactions in chemicals, materials, and related industries.
As Senior Advisors, Bill and Omar will be involved in originating and executing advisory projects in chemicals, materials, industrials, and related industries as key members of the Balmoral team. They will also contribute their experience and expertise to projects across the entirety of the Firm’s activities, which also include Building Products, Business Services, Food & Beverage, Industrials, Packaging and Plastics.

Bill Breen has more than 49 years of experience in specialty chemicals, completing his first M&A transaction in 1974 for a Fortune 200 company. Bill was responsible for acquisitions totaling approximately half of the $1 billion chemical business now known as Ingevity (NYSE: NGVT). Bill took the company’s Custom Chemicals unit private in 1997 after 23 years of corporate ownership, and as President bolted on a complementary business, then merged it with ArrMaz, creating an entity which sold for $570 million in 2019. Since 2003, Bill has advised chemicals clients on buyside and sellside M&A deals in the $10-500 million transaction value range. Bill has a BA and BChE in Chemical Engineering and Economics from the University of Delaware and an MBA in Marketing & Finance from the Wharton School of Business at the University of Pennsylvania. He lives in the Charleston, South Carolina area.
Omar Diaz
Senior Advisor, Chicago
Omar Diaz has more than 25 years of investment banking, management consulting and project engineering experience. He joins Balmoral from Seaport Global, where he was Head of Chemicals. Prior to that, he served as Head of Industrials at Dresner Partners, a Managing Director focused on Industrials at Allegiance Capital and Head of Chemicals at Houlihan Lokey. Early in his investment banking career Omar held positions at Acquest Advisors, J.P. Morgan, and Bank of America. Omar has a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from Cornell University. He graduated from the E.W. Kelley Graduate School of Business at Indiana University with an MBA in Finance. He lives in the Chicago, Illinois area.
